Hailstone's Dance
A story of sexual abuse and a flawed justice system in Iran.
In the wake of the 'Me Too' movement taking off in Iran, this personal story depicts the struggles to recover after childhood sexual abuse, and the Iranian justice system's flawed handling of such crimes.
'When I'm with others, I try to make them feel fine, but day after day I feel more and more depressed', confesses an Iranian rape victim, who was assaulted by her father in early childhood. But typically, women's reports of assault are dismissed. 'To approve a rape claim there should be 4 wise and mature men who have seen the crime closely and they must be present in court for the testimony', explains one legal expert.
