Palestinian Hip Hop

Palestinian Hip Hop A new wave of protest music is sweeping through Israel in the form of Palestinian rap - and Israelis are loving it.
Sick of Israeli brutality, young Palestinians are kicking back with their own version of life since the Intifada. "Rap is like a weapon, they are shooting with their guns and I'm shooting with my mouth," says Mahmoud, a successful rapper. And their weapon of choice is not solely pointed at the Israelis - their own Arab leaders are also under fire: "Our leaders are selling us out, pretending to act, but doing nothing." Hip hop seems to be making radical progress where politics has failed. As Israeli youths flock to see their rapper-heroes a new attitude is emerging. "A generation that listens to both Israeli and Arab hip hop understands that it's time for peace, it's time for talks."
