Hussein's Homecoming

Hussein's Homecoming After the disaster that saw 39 asylum seekers die when their boat sank off Indonesia, this report follows the survivors as they make an emotional return home, including a man whose entire family drowned.
"I have nothing left, my loved ones are gone", says an inconsolable Hussein Khoder, whose wife and eight children died in the perilous journey. Eighteen people from Qabeit lost their lives and the village is swarming with media. "Everyone must know that Australia does not want to welcome anyone." Emotions are running high and questions remain over the Australian Coast Guard's involvement. "We called them and we said we were drowning", insists survivor Abdullah Al Qis. Meanwhile, Sheikh Ali Khoder is apologetic when asked about his previously incendiary comments blaming Australia. "I lost nine of my relatives. After verifying the facts, I apologise."
