Stealing a Kiss
Known throughout Brazil for his exploits, Beijoquiero sees “spreading the kiss” as a vocation. He has made a career of springing up at public events and placing a kiss on the lips of famous public figures. Some see him as a phenomenon, others simply see him as a raving mad man.
Beijoqueiro’s aim in life is to kiss anyone he sets his eyes on. The recipients, or victims, of these kisses include; Frank Sinatra, Pele, the Pope, and hundreds of unwitting pedestrians that pass him in the street. His doctor describes him as a manic depressive with an unhinged mental state, and has repeatedly prescribed him drugs to help subdue his erratic behaviour. Beijoqueiro, however, sees himself as some sort of prophet. Despite countless beatings and arrests, he has no intention of stopping anytime soon.
