Spies In The Priesthood
The Vatican may be credited with catalysing the fall of Communism in Poland but many priests spied for the KGB. Even today, the Vatican is reluctant to acknowledge this.
It's estimated that 15% of priests collaborated with the KGB. "These people have never confessed their guilt. They never apologised to the people they spied on", complains priest Tadeusz Zaleski. He claims his superiors in the Church ordered him to destroy evidence about priest-informers. Now, pressure is growing for a fuller disclosure.
