The McCain Train

The McCain Train A few months ago, John McCain was the joke candidate in the Republican nominations. He had no money, no staff and single-digit approval ratings. Now he's the frontrunner. Could the 71 year old really be the next US President?
"We refer to him as 'Satan'", states old-school Republican Joyce Kaufman. "We just don't like John McCain". To traditional Republicans, McCain is too green on environmental issues, too soft on immigration and too critical on tax cuts. Yet his ability to appeal across political divides is at last bringing in the Republicans. A surprise win in New Hampshire turned his campaign around. Others are encouraged by McCain's commitment to the war on terrorism and newfound enthusiasm for the Iraq war. Now he's vowing not to; "set a date for withdrawal, a date for surrender".
