The Final Betrayal
The Final Betrayal - Uganda
'The fighting will not end. It will just continue. Forgiveness is needed,' says a young Ugandan girl. Three of her young cousins were kidnapped and brutally tortured by LRA soldiers. Yet amongst her people, the urge to forgive is strong. Thomas, a villager from the Odek camp where LRA leader Joseph Kony was born, emphasises 'forgiveness is better than revenge:' Even though he lost both parents in the conflict, he insists on the need to forgive for the sake of peace. Yet Kony refuses to sign peace agreements whilst a warrant exists for his arrest; a motion instigated by the International Criminal Court. 'To many people in the north, it feels that the world - having ignored them for so long - is now standing in the way of their peace.'
