Lost Land

Lost Land In Assam, North-East India, the river island of Majuli is under threat from erosion. We meet the inhabitants of the world's biggest river island that is slowly disappearing under the river's current.
"After the erosion, nothing remained to feed the children", describes one inhabitant of Majuli. The island has lost 40% of its surface to the river Brahmaputra's currents, and more than 10,000 people have been displaced. The culture of the island is also under threat, as potters and traditional mask makers struggle to find materials. "Our Majuli was so beautiful, the erosion ruined everything".
