B-Corps make a name for themselves by prioritising ethical business practices

B-Corp Boom While American corporations are responsible to shareholders to maximise profits, a group of businesses are approaching their enterprises with an eye toward environmental sustainability and workers' rights.
'B Corp' is a designation for businesses that have proven their dedication to more than profit. New Belgium Brewing Company's Sustainability Director, Katie Wallace, says "that we kind of stumbled into this for values-based reasons but then found that economically it was a really powerful business model". But Professor Kent Greenfield believes that only fundamental adjustment to corporate obligations can make a change, and is sceptical of the efficacy of B Corps. "It is a band aid on a cancerous patient."
