A nascent art scene emerges from the war-torn Iraqi capital
After almost two decades of war and strife, Iraq's capital is finally experiencing a period of relative stability. PBS looks at how the battle-worn capital is witnessing the re-emergence of a once burgeoning art scene.
A small group of art enthusiasts gather on historic Al Rasheed Street in Baghdad for an open air photography exhibition. It's an unexpected sight in a city that has been gripped by violence and destruction for much of the past 16 years. "It was wonderful, it was very spiritual," says photographer Hussein Motar.
