Escaping Kabul When the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, cycling was made illegal, turning the sport into an act of rebellion for Afghanistan’s women riders. With their lives at risk, an extraordinary international rescue mission is launched to get them out of Kabul and to safety. This gripping documentary follows the national female cycling team as their love of the sport transforms into a symbol of resistance and women’s rights.

Matteo Born – Director

Matteo Born, Swiss documentary filmmaker, was born in 1990 in Morges, Switzerland. In 2015, he graduated with a degree in filmmaking from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. Since then, he has been working as an independent filmmaker, creating internationally acclaimed films that have captivated audiences across borders. His films have been selected for international festivals. He has been nominated for the prestigious Prix Europa 2022 with one of his documentaries.




Alain Rimbert – Director

Alain Rimbert began as film-editor at the Vrai Journal de Karl Zéro (Canal+), ever since alternating between directing and editing. From France to the United States he develops creative documentaries and hybrid fiction for cinema and television. Recognized for his first short film Sniper, then Methane Momma featuring Melvin Van Peebles and his work on Delirantissimo, his films have been selected and awarded in international festivals (Worldfest-Houston, New York, Rotterdam, Cannes, London, Rio...). He has also signed many collaborations as a film-editor alongside directors and authors from journalism, comedy and the visual arts. His work on the duty of memory extends a long-term exploration of conflict zones, resistance and exiles. It is distinguished by a strong formal requirement, precise work on editing and constant attention to human trajectories caught in the tremors of contemporary history.
