Speed Kills

Thailand's systematic killing of drug addicts

Speed Kills When the Thai Prime Minister declared war on drugs, no-one expected it to lead to the murder of thousands of 'addicts'.
“We believe that the police are involved in many of the killings,” states editor Thepchai Yong. Renowned forensic scientist, Dr Pornthip Rojanasunan, agrees. She claims there is clear evidence that crime scenes have been tampered with and drugs planted on victims. There is also concern that the authorities are reluctant to tackle the powerful officials running the drugs trade. It may be that all the drugs war will achieve is a pile of body bags and a country still awash with narcotics.
