Iraq - Sarah's Story

Iraq - Sarah's Story Sarah Hamdne was shopping for her school uniform in Baghdad when insurgents shot her four times. She was deliberately targeted because her father worked as translator for a foreign company.
From a hideout in Baghdad, eight year old Elaf describes how Sarah and their mother and grandmother were shot. "The bullets went in here and came out from here". Their mother and grandmother were killed immediately. Sarah barely survived. But her future is bleak because the attack ruined her chances of having children. "She's already been through excruciating pain but she will suffer more in future", predicts her father. Shortly before the attack, he received a letter from Al Qaeda threatening to target his family if he didn't leave his job. Worried he wouldn't find more work, he ignored it. "I paid a dead price. My wife was killed and child disabled."
