As the situation in Somalia worsens, thousands of desperate refugees are risking all to make the dangerous crossing to Yemen. The journey is often just as dangerous as the life they leave back home.
An emaciated man rubs the sand off his eyes and tries to drag himself up the beach. He hasn't eaten or slept for three days. The traffickers who smuggled him into Yemen are notorious for their brutality. Once in Yemen, the refugees' problems don't end. "Monthly rations aren't enough for a week", despairs one woman. "We left Somalia because life was so bad but it's no better here."
