Carbon Capture Forests

Turning the tide on carbon emissions through trees.

Carbon Capture Forests As host of COP26, the UK has announced a series of measures to reduce or offset emissions. Over the next five years, it plans to plant 5,000 acres of woodland across the country - a tenfold increase on previous targets.
New subsidies from the UK government provide funding for landowners wanting to create woodlands. 'The offers that we have available are really revolutionizing the approach to woodland creation in this country,' says Jim Lee, from Forestry England. The City of York won approval for one of its sites, which will see a few fields turned into woodlands. 'If we wanted to mitigate everything that's going on, we would have to do 100 of these ones,' says councilwoman Paula Widdowson. The private sector is also playing a part. Harry Emson runs One Life One Tree, which plants sequoias. 'It's showing people there's something they can do about their carbon footprint', he says.
