Wild, Wild East
"There were shootings behind me. They were breaking into the apartments below me. It was getting pretty scary," states one woman. After days waiting for rescue, she's happy just to be alive. But conditions in the transit camps are simply appalling. But questions are still being asked about why the rescue operation was so botched. "The most shocking thing I found was a lack of command and control," states rescue volunteer Dr David Meredith. "There was no one telling me where to go and what to do." In shelters across the county, it appears the mismanaged rescue effort is fanning the flames of racial tension. (SBS)
