For Norma, the recession means travelling hundreds of miles to Barcelona, to compete against hoards of desperate Latin-American women, for work that brings pennies to her family back home.
Norma works long hours for little pay in the busy city of Barcelona. Yet she finds time to phone her son every evening to ask about his day: "I'm going to work hard mommy, so I don't have to travel to work", he says. This is the quiet and, too often, untold story of thousands of latin-American women, who make the ultimate sacrifice so that their children can have an education.
